No, SEED LA follows the traditional school year calendar, but we are a five-day-a-week boarding school, where students come to school Sunday night and go home on Friday night. There will be transportation provided for students to community hubs in Los Angeles County near where a student lives. For example, if a student lives in Lancaster, the drop off and pick up may be a Boys and Girls Club. We begin in late August and end in early June for summer break. Students also go home for winter break, spring break, professional development days, and federal holidays.

Yes, SEED LA offers special education services.

No. A student’s prior academic performance is not used to determine eligibility.

Enrollment has begun. Click here to submit an application. We encourage families to attend an Information Session. Please sign up here to get the details of the meeting sent directly to you.

Families can submit an e-application starting November 1. We encourage families to stay connected to SEED LA by attending information sessions and reaching out with any questions prior to the lottery that takes place on February 16. The location of the lottery will be sent out to all families and available on the website this spring.

Once your child’s application is received, a reminder will be sent via email if additional documents are needed. Once all documentation has been received, the application will be reviewed for eligibility to our enrollment lottery on February 16.

Families are important to SEED LA and we strive to keep households together. To obtain the sibling preference, the student would identify that he/she/they is the sibling of a student admitted to or attending SEED LA on the student information form.

Yes, SEED LA students will be required to wear our official school uniform during the academic day.

SEED LA will have separate dorms for boys and girls. On each side clusters will be organized by hallway where each cluster of students will have a Student Life Counselor to support all student needs. Each hallway is called a house with a cluster of dorms, bathrooms, and a living room for house gatherings. There are typically two to three students per room.

SEED LA’s facility will be a 147,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art campus, and boarding school. The academic portion of the campus will include 20 classrooms, an art studio, science labs, a maker space lab, administration space, conference rooms, gymnasium/multipurpose room, dining hall with a commercial kitchen, outdoor recreation space and court yards. This provides plenty of space for students to engage in activities that interest them such as basketball, soccer, gardening, dance, and more.

Yes. We honor our parent partnerships. Parents can shadow students in their classrooms and visit the dormitories for planned parent events.
